Devices for Network connection

3G-

This stands for 3rd generation and is a relatively new thing. It represents the 3rd generation of telecommunications technology. 3G is used to find application in mobile internet access. 3G promises increased bandwidth and will work over wireless air interfaces such as GSM, TDMA and CDMA. EDGE is a new wireless air interface developed to meet the bandwidth of 3G.

4G-

4th generation of telecommunications technology. Provides mobile ultra-broadband internet access and has recently been released by android and Smartphone’s.  The advantage of 4G is that at any point you are provided by an internet access at a higher rate than any other existing cellular services. 4G is basically one protocol called WiMAX. People use 4G and WiMAX interchangeably and it can cover a whole city or country unlike 3G.

Wireless-

This is any type of computer network that does not have any cables of any kind. It is mostly used at home with the broadband. The two most common types of wireless capabilities are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.  The Wi-Fi capability provides internet to anyone that is connected.

Bluetooth-

This is often used for wireless keyboards, wireless mice, wireless printing and wireless mobile phone headsets. To use these things, first your computer or mobile device must be Bluetooth compatible or have a Bluetooth adaptor. It uses a low power radio communication and is to be used over relatively short distances. It is easy and simple to use, low cost.

Network interface cards-
A network interface card is used to connect a computer to an Ethernet network. The card usually contains the protocol control firmware and Ethernet controller needed to support the MAC. This stands for Medium Access Control and is used by the Ethernet.
