Slow Response Times

In this assignment I am asked to say why I think the computer might be slow and not up to scratch for their computer gaming needs. I will try and find out the problem and give possible outcomes as to how to fix it. I think that the computer isn’t up to the standards for the gaming as it might have old faulty software and a very low RAM memory. I would carry out many different tasks to ensure that the computer will be able to suit their gaming needs and have a fast response and have enough memory.
From the minute you turn on your computer, it will start to slow down. So in every case, computer maintenance is required.

Free Up Wasted Space: Try to remove unused programs and delete unnecessary files, in order to free up disk space. What is more, you can remove the Temporary Internet files, empty the Recycle Bin, remove optional Windows components that you don't use and even clean your Desktop. These simple actions will increase the operating memory of your system and make your computer run faster. Another way of freeing up space would be to store your biggest documents on cloud storage. This allows you to be able to access and edit the document, without it being saved onto your hard rive.

Defragmenting: Disk fragmentation slows down your system considerably. It takes longer for your computer to search the hard disk and the response time is significantly increased. When computer files become fragmented, they are usually disorganized and in the wrong place. This can cause the system to be slow and unresponsive. This could be the case for this person’s computer as this can happen without realizing. What I would do is run this process so that the computer gathers and organizes the files which usually improves retrieval time and the computers overall performance. For example, if the computer has to access various files on the hard drive and those files are spread out on opposite sides of hard drive instead or neatly organized, the computer will have to work harder when it isn’t necessary therefore slowly down the response times.

As you can see from this image, it is running the dick defragmenter program and you can see it moving files and freeing up space.

Check for Viruses and Spyware: Viruses eat up your system's resources and slow down your pc's performance. What I would do is to make sure and check for viruses as they can be the main and most common reason for a slow computer. I would recommend choosing good anti-virus software that can remove them automatically, and make sure that your PC is clean. Spyware is one of the largest problems of internet users. These programs have become so widespread that are even more common than viruses.

This is a common antivirus that many people use and the gaming people could use. It is easy and simple to use.

Fix Corrupt Registry Files: Another way of maybe speeding up your computer would be to use this feature. If you're experiencing problems such as frequent crashes, freezing, slow start up time, too many error messages, slow computer speed, and then the problem is probably a corrupted registry. There are registry cleaners online that can fix this problem safely in a matter of seconds. I would recommend for these gaming people to give this a try as there could be a possibility that this is the problem.

New Cards: You can manually upgrade various cards in your compute to optimize your gaming performance. I would advise this to be done here as the computer may not be up to standard even after all the different clean ups and ant viruses. The first card you could upgrade is the video card. This is important for these people as the really want to be gaming and this is a great way to improve the gaming performance. With their computer at the moment, the graphics card might not be up to standard and the picture might be blurry or pixilated. You can easily buy a new graphics card and insert it.

Another possible upgrade would be the RAM upgrade. This would be used to improve the speed of the computer. Adding RAM is often the most cost-effective upgrade you can make to speed up a sluggish computer so it might be the most worthwhile thing to try. It is easy to obtain more RAM

You can check your task manager to see if you are in need of more RAM.

As well as these two upgrades, there is a final upgrade that you could do that would speed up your computer. If there seems to be a problem with the gaming computer, luckily, computers can be easily upgraded. Upgrading your CPU (Central Processing Unit) is one of the most beneficial things you can do to make your computer run lag-free. The CPU is a critical component of any computer system. Removing the processor and replacing it with a new one is very easy, the difficulty is in recognizing the right time to upgrade and what processor will provide the best performance.

If none of these different techniques work or there is lack of time, there is always the option of buying a totally new gaming computer that would meet the needs of the gaming people.

This is a quick and affordable gaming computer that could be ideal.
